Wine of the week | Vinivino's review
17 November 2008
The Wine of the Year elected from Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of 2008. The Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2005 is a blend made of 42% Carmenere, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot.

The color is intense dark red purple. On the nose, red black fruits aromas such as plums, cherries and currant. Aromas of dry figs, black cacao and hints of violet also contribute to this complex nose. In mouth, it’s a well-balanced and elegant spicy wine with a touch of vanilla. Round with velvet tannins, this wine will charm all your senses.

It will be a good match for game, lamb and entrecote fillet. Also excellent with cocoa chocolate desserts.

Serving temperature: 16-18 ° C.
Ready to drink now if decanted for at least 3 hours or cellar until 2019.
